Moey’s Not a Graphic Designer, He’s A Plagiarist

Those who argue that plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery are full of crap and deluding themselves. Plagiarism is taking someone’s original material and pretending it is your own for your own gain.

I was recently informed (thanks Chuck Wilson) that some of my writing had been plagiarized by a designer and blogger named Moey in Amman, Jordan. Shame on you Moey. Did you think because we are separated by a long distance that no one would notice? Are you familiar with this thing called the Internet? Tsk, tsk.

I could list line-by-line a comparison between my original words written in early 2007 and his article more than a year later, but I won’t bother. I’m not even going to link to Moey’s website as I don’t want to contribute to his search engine page rankings, but you can find him easily enough on Google. Or take a look at this screen capture of his article and compare it to my original post “I Am Not a Graphic Designer”.

I wonder if this is how he creates “designs that produce results?” I wonder how many Industrial Brand design knock-offs are in his portfolio?

Moey did not write this article.

You are absolutely right! I have just finished checking out the “plagiarised” article. Wow, he’s got some nerve. Did he think he wouldn’t get caught? Interesting!

What kind of person takes the words of another and reproduces – no, wait: ‘pastes’ is more appropriate – as his / her own! The nerve some people have!

After reading both articles (yours and his) I decided I had to comment on his blog about it. I wonder if he’ll delete me comment! I’ll keep you posted…

    Cheers.

    Yep. He deleted my comment.

I so agree. What kind of moron (certainly nobody in their right mind) would have the nerve to copy someone else’s material and falsely present it as their own, only to publish it back to the same media that he stole it from (the Internet)?

In any case, what is to stop you from adding a Copywrite at the end of your blogs (or articles), thus giving you legal recourse against heinous fools like this? Sue their dishonest asses, and make ‘em pay.

Sadly, I hear of this sort of thing all the time.

I have to admit it took longer than you’d think for it to sink in for me this was a chap named Moey and not the artist Moby (a man criticized often for plagiarizing himself).

Funny enough I just went to his site and that particular post, while listed in the archives, is now password protected. Very amusing and annoying.

He password protected that post? What a fool… It’s so blatantly obvious that he stole your content, I can’t believe he even kept the article up, or had the nerve to post it in the first place.

For being a so-called “designer”, this Moey sure lacks creativity in the writing department, no? Looks to me like he copy/pasted the whole article and made some minor changes to a few sentences here and there, deleted a few things, etc.

Incredible… a graphic designer who can’t even summon enough brain power to write original content, and instead just rips it off from others in the industry.
