Flickr is good, but this is amazing

Flickr has become a pretty useful tool for me to post my photos to, but I don’t really consider how others might use my images (hence the reason why I don’t have any nudes up there!).

Props to our friend Derrick for bringing this amazing demo of Photosynth technology to our attention:

Using photos of oft-snapped subjects (like Notre Dame) scraped from around the Web, Photosynth (based on Seadragon technology) creates breathtaking multidimensional spaces with zoom and navigation features that outstrip all expectation.

I have a hard time imagining that even the folks at Flickr would have conceived of this use of their popular photo networking site, but wow, is this ever cool.

It’s a Microsoft project and unfortunately only for Windows and Vista so all us Mac users are left wanting. But, if you’ve got the gear you can see it in action for yourself.

    Wow, the speed at which technology is improving blows the mind. Very impressive.
