We were having a conversation about this last night at the Railway Club, after our panel discussion. Gord from Engine digital recommended this book - <a href="http://www.amazon.ca/Flow-Mihaly-Csikszentmihalyi/dp/0060920432/sr=8-1/qid=1164395143/ref=pd_ka_1/702-6488246-1052025?ie=UTF8&s=books" rel="nofollow">Flow</a>.

The short summary that Gord gave was something like this: We can graph our experiences in life with Skill on one axis and Challenge on the other. The 'sweet spots' happen when the balance between these two things is perfect. Otherwise we fall victim to either boredom or frustration.

Might be worth a read.
